Goucher Alum dedicates life to study of H.L. Mencken

Marion Elizabeth Rodgers '81 has devoted nearly her entire career to one subject: H.L. Mencken. After 10 years of research -- and several serious computer crashes -- Rodgers published the definitive biography of the "Sage of Baltimore," a hefty volume titled "Mencken: The American Iconoclast.

A celebration of African-American achievement

February was a month abuzz for Goucher's Office of Community Living and Multicultural Affairs, who acted as the powerhouse behind more than a dozen events commemorating Black History Month. The events included a free outing to the Blacks in Wax Museum, the annual Martin Luther King Tribute Dinner, a public display of Africana art, speakers from the Baltimore community, a chance to use DNA testing to examine one's heritage and several other discussions, viewings and dinners.

Breaking the bubble: Active experimentation

When I was in elementary school, I was always intrigued by how and why the world moved as it does. I pushed these thoughts aside though, as I focused on writing my sophomoric 8-year-old poetry about rain and my family. These scientific thoughts crept back up on me though, when I read online about the Maryland Science Center.

The Library & CTLT Responding to Your Concerns

In November 2006, we contacted students to ask for their assistance in completing a student library and technology survey. Changes were made in the Fall 2006 semester regarding library and technology resources for students. Technology resources were increased in the library and library hours were extended.
