When I was a lass (one of maybe nineteen),
when we wanted our socks and our underwear clean,
we walked all the way down to the laundry to learn
if a washer was free, and we waited our turn.
On a soapy but silver and new-fangled platter,
they've handed you eSuds. Just think about that, or
consider the journey of each student eater
when classes began or let out in Van Meter.
On the rainiest, hottest, or coldest of days,
we tramped to and from Pearlstone, went upstairs both ways,
and for each sandwich dropped, and for each coffee spilt,
a student or teacher had character built.
Now, beginning in March, no Van Meteorite
must go tramping outside just to grab a quick bite.
No, you needn't go far for your coffee and juice.
Now there's music to download, and iPods for use.
Society's changing. I'm feeling perplexed.
What's next for you young whippersnappers? What's next?
