Did your parents come visit this week? If they did,
then what did they think of their Gopherized kid?
It must seem to them that you've learned a new tongue,
since you lived in their house way back when you were young,
'cause even the freshman who's been here six weeks
uses phrases and terms Goucher-style when she speaks.
Do you find yourself mentioning "Van Meter Highway"?
That may be your way, and it's certainly my way,
but those who live far, and who got here on planes,
picture highways with loud, beeping cars changing lanes,
while this highway's efficient for gas-use reduction,
and lets out less noise. (Well, besides the construction.)
And when you say "Stimmy," you probably feel
that you've clearly explained that you're off to a meal.
You may not have noticed your brain quickly switchin'
from back when you thought dinner came from a kitchen.
Try to hear yourself talk. Hear what concepts you're formin'.
Since when did the buzzword for "work" become "Thormann"?
So examine yourself if your parents had trouble
in making some sense of your life in the Bubble.
