Rama Hart joins Goucher´s economics and management department as an assistant professor.

This year, Goucher welcomes Rama Hart to the economics and management department as an assistant professor. Professor Hart received her Ph.D from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. Her research there was in workplace relationships and how they occur at a distance through information technology (anything from e-mail to the telephone to instant messaging).

Hart comes to Goucher from her a job at Ithaca College in New York. She heard about Goucher and its good reputation from a colleague there, and when her husband transferred to Maryland, she started looking for a job here.

Hart chose Goucher because she is "committed to teaching in a small liberal arts college with a business department." She finds the students here to be different than those at any other place she has thought and finds it to be a learning experience. "The students," she said, "are helping [me] learn about Goucher's uniqueness."

Hart is currently teaching "Statistics for Economy and Business," "Introduction to International Business," and "Business Ethics."

Besides being a professor, she is mother to an 18-month-old baby boy named Kieran and wife to her husband Donovan. In her free time, she likes to knit and spend time outdoors. Since moving to Maryland, she has become politically active in her community and beyond.
