This year Goucher's women's soccer team experienced a great improvement, due in a large part to five new freshmen and two transfer students. Their season ended on November 5th bringing their record for the year to 8-7-4, a big step up from last year's somewhat disappointing record of 0-16.

Last year's team saw two all-Capital Athletic Conference 2nd team members, Anne Calinger and Lindsey Sheaffer, who were both freshmen at the time. This year Goucher's women's team was proud to have made it to the CAC Tournament semi-finals, being the first Goucher team to make it that far in competition since 1995.

In the first round of the Capital Athletic Conderence Championship Tournament this year, for those unfamiliar, the quarterfinals, Goucher's lady Gophers took on Catholic College. The score of the game was 1-1 before going into over time. The Gophers eventually prevailed during the penalty kicks to end with the score of 4-3, and were able to go on to the semifinals. This game, played against York College, took place under extreme weather conditions. According to one of the team's freshman, Lindsey Henley, "It rained like hell!" Reminiscent of the quarterfinals, this game too was a tie after the second half and went into overtime at 0-0. Unfortunately, it was York who came away the victors after the teams took their penalty kicks, making the score 3-1 in their favor.

During the season, the girls scored a total of forty-seven goals, the most scored in a single season in many years, and are easily identifiable as the strongest women's soccer team that Goucher College has had in a long time.
