Gopher of the Week
Pierre Jones Scores Career-High 32 Points
Issue date: 12/10/03 Section: Sports and Wellness
We at the Quindecim are proud to bring you a new feature in the Sports Section called Gopher of the Week. Each issue will highlight an athlete's performance that is deserving of another look.
Pierre Jones scored a career-high 32 points against the Marymount Saints on December sixth. Jones went an astounding 13 of 19 from the floor, while adding 6 of 9 shooting from the free throw line.
Despite an outstanding shooting performance by Jones, it was not enough to defeat the Saints, as they handed the Gophers their first Capital Athletic Conference loss of the season. A major reason for the loss was the Saints relentless scoring ability, as they had a .653 shooting percentage from the floor.
Pierre Jones is only the fourth player in the Goucher College Men's Basketball program history to score at least thirty-two points in a single game. He added to his impressive stat line by grabbing nine rebounds and also contributed two blocks and two steals.
Though Pierre's performance was hampered by the loss, we hope to see similar results from him as he and the Gophers square off against DeSales on December tenth. Go Gophers!
