Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl came out on DVD and video on December 2. This means that if you haven't seen it, you need to buy it, rent it, or ask for it for Christmas or Hannukah. I say this because it's an amazing movie. When I first went to the theater to see it, I didn't think it would be good at all, but it is brilliant.
First, I'm going to tell you why you need to see this movie. Second, I'm going to tell you why, if you love it as much as I do and you haven't already bought the DVD, you should.
Why you should watch this movie:
1. Johnny Depp is hot. Not only is he hot, but he puts on one of the best acting performances I have ever seen from any actor. This movie is hilarious, and it would not be the same without Johnny.
2. Orlando Bloom is also hot. He's definitely not as good an actor as Johnny, but he does put on a pretty good performance.
3. Pirates are awesome. I have come to believe that everyone has some pirate inside of them, whether they want to admit it or not.
4. This movie has something for everyone. It has sword fighting, cannon battles, and cursed pirates for people who are into that sort of thing. As I mentioned before, it has Johnny and Orlando for anyone who is not so much into the whole action thing, and much more into looking at pretty men for over two hours. If you are into exciting pirate adventures and you love hot men, you are in luck.
5. Much of the movie was filmed in the actual Caribbean, so the scenery is beautiful.
6. The story, which I thought would be boring, is full of twists and turns and keeps the viewer intrigued until the very end.
Why you should get the DVD:
1. It is a two-disc set and between the two discs, there are hours of cast interviews, "how they made the movie" footage, a history of pirates, image galleries, a diary of a pirate, a history of the Pirates of the Caribbean ride at Disneyland, enhanced interactive computer features, deleted scenes, a blooper reel, sneak peaks, and you can even watch the entire movie with commentary from director Gore Verbinski and actors from the film.
2. You can easily watch only your favorite scenes if you need a quick pirate fix, say before heading out to class. I recommend "Pirates Ye Be Warned" and "Stranded Again."
2. If you get this DVD, and your friends don't, they will be jealous of you and they might give you presents in the hopes that you will let them borrow it.
