According to a Winter Storm Warning issued by the National Weather Service for the Baltimore and Washington D.C. metro areas, a powerful winter storm is expected to dump ten inches of snow or more on top of last Friday's "snowmageddon" blizzard.

The storm is expected to begin hitting the Baltimore area around noon tomorrow and is not expected to subside until Wednesday night.

The storm warning, which was updated from today's earlier Winter Storm Watch, states bluntly that between ten and twenty inches of snow is expected to fall.

Like much of the mid-Atlantic region, Goucher has been struggling to dig out from the impact of the weekend storm. The college was officially closed over the weekend and today, as Facilities Management Services (FMS) works to clear snow from roads, paths, and parking lots.

Dozens of student, staff, and official college vehicles were trapped in campus parking lots over the weekend; many students without shovels were unable to access cars that were completely blocked in by the thirty-inches of snow that fell during the blizzard.

An e-mail from the Office of Public Safety indicates that FMS is now working to clear snow parking lots; students with cars that have been freed have been asked to move them to the Dorsey parking lot which was cleared over the weekend.

A report by the Washington Post indicates that blizzard conditions are possible Tuesday night, especially north of Washington and into the Baltimore area.

Goucher Provost Marc Roy announced in an e-mail that the college plans to open on Tuesday morning - thanks in large part to FMS efforts both today and over the weekend.
